Let me start here by being honest - I only stumbled upon these guys a few weeks ago! I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them previously. Best of all these super-talented guys are from Australia. Their first EP was released April 2008 called The Penance and the Patience. While the music is more progressive on the album than on the EP, both are just simply brilliant but do sound different. Their album has been released through Vision Records; this only validates how good this band is. Plenty of big named alternative bands are signed to this record such as Chiodos, Pierce the Veil & Circa Survive.

Kissing Cousins is the first song on the album and is just a masterpiece of soul, party and psychedelic music. Chris De Cinque’s voice is extremely strong and his high tenor soars throughout the song as well as the whole of this album. Perfect opening track that sets the scene and pace for the rest of the album. Reindeer Age follows and its fast paced sound is funky, melodic and complicated making me wish I could blast the sound right out of my iPod! Sweetheart is just as catchy as the previous songs, melody whipped with excellent guitar riffs – this band RULES! Vanguard cruises in next and I wonder if the title was influenced by the well known venue in Newtown, hope so! The song does the place justice complete with an extremely catchy chorus stamped with their unique sound. A Night At the Spleen brings a dash of jazz throughout the opening few minutes with the guitar and bongo going for it. This song is definitely up tempo and sometimes has a good hint of, dare I say it, pop.

I’m a Ghost of Twilight marks mid way through the album and is etched with darkness and a slightly slower feeling than the other songs in an epic kind of way. Opening lyrics dance in and hook you straight in: "I'll wake to the cracking of bones, to the scratch in my throat...” The song builds us tremendously and slows us in the next instance to keep us in their grip throughout. Let me tell you that the latter end of the album does not disappoint. The intensity of the songs definitely do not relent either. I honestly cannot stop listening to this album.

Stand out track on this album – pffffft, no way can I say, the album is just amazing! It will have you tapping away like a crazed person and moving even if you are somewhere you shouldn’t be.

What are you still doing here reading this? Go download it now. This band's sound is absolutely accessible to people who like all different genres and they are going to be HUGE. Extremely talented band who’s power have enchanted me to the point of wanting to s pread the word BIG TIME!

What you’d be listening to this month, if it were up to me- The Material – Tomorrow EP. Female fronted rock band. Can you tell I love it when girls can rock just as hard as men? Go buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

What’s on my iPod – Well to be honest, a Closure in Moscow are now a constant but before that, Akissforjersey – Victims. Released through Tragic Hero Records, which have helped many bands rise through the ranks of the alternative underworld and is a well respected label. These guys are not for the faint hearted and literally rock their hearts out and heads off despite being a Christian band. Don’t let this put you off like I nearly did. Genre is Post Hardcore.
